About the order
After the Craft, the Royal Order of Scotland is one of the oldest Masonic orders. It seems to have begun in London around the 1740s and became a Grand Lodge in Edinburgh in 1767.
Unusually, it has no private lodges: members meet in Provincial Grand Lodges. The Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent was consecrated on 9 May 1974 at West Malling.
